To-Do List Printable | Ann-Marie Loves Paper
Every morning, I like to begin my day by brewing some coffee and jotting down my to-do list. Whether or not I actually accomplish everything on my list is sort of beside the point. I do it mainly just to get all my thoughts + assignments out of my brain and simply put a nice pen to well-designed paper. I mean, is that too much to ask for?

So of course, it was only a matter of time before I made my own to-do list form! I like to print these on the back of scratch paper or anything that I have lying around – no need to bust out the fancy cardstock! You can download these lists HERE. Enjoy!

P.S. If you’re looking for an inexpensive pen with great flow + the ability to erase (mind-blowing, I tell you!), I highly recommend stocking up on the Pilot FriXion!

workspace wednesday | airporting

Remember when I talked about how productive I can be when I just leave the house? Well, I think I may have found my most productive workplace yet: THE AIRPORT!

Let's Fly Away | Ann-Marie Loves Paper

As someone who is perpetually fifteen (twenty, twenty-five…) minutes behind schedule, I rarely have the opportunity to really take full advantage of the airport setting. I’m usually trying to race through security, grab a bottle of water, and get onboard before my plane leaves the runway. Okay, so maybe it’s not that bad (most of the time), but it’s not often that I get to wander through an airport and take a moment to breathe before takeoff.

On Friday morning, I had an early flight to Salt Lake and was pleasantly surprised when the usual weekend rush at LAX was nonexistent. In fact, I was able to get through security in less than three minutes – victory! So I went over to Coffee Bean and picked up coffee + oatmeal (that came with steamed milk – heaven!) and sat down to enjoy my meal. I can’t even tell you how nice that was for a change. Especially since it meant I could avoid the always-futile juggling act of lugging my carry-on suitcase, my laptop, and a large cup of hot coffee down that narrow aisle to my seat (lord beer me strength). Once it was time to take to the skies, I opened up my laptop and got to work! I edited photos, I composed a blog post, and I reveled in the fact that I could be so productive at such an early (read: 7am) hour! There’s something to be said about having to remain stationary for an extended period of time that really allows me to focus and get things done.

On Sunday when I was flying out of SLC, I had to get to the airport extra early to turn in my rental car and on top of that, my flight was delayed. But you know what? I didn’t mind it one bit. Salt Lake has a fantastic airport with plenty of tables, comfy chairs, and outlets coupled with a wide selection of dining options (including coffee! and alcohol! go utah!). I was more than happy to get my standard coffee + oatmeal and find a table where I could take advantage of the several unscheduled hours I had before me. It was kind of the best thing ever.

If I could hang out in that airport at one of the tables overlooking the runway, I would do it every single day. Ahhh, I love flying.

workspace wednesday | editorial calendar

Editorial Calendar | Ann-Marie Loves Paper

After running BasicGrey’s blog for nearly two months, I’ve come to learn just how invaluable editorial calendars really are. BG’s marketing director and I use an ongoing Google spreadsheet to track + plan posts months in advance, so I rarely have to worry about generating content at the last minute. SO HANDY, YOU GUYS. It’s been a welcome change of pace for this non-planner to see firsthand just how effective scheduling posts ahead of time really is.

Between running the BG blog and spending a few days with the blogging master Elise last week, I feel newly inspired to really crank out (give or take) five posts a week, every single week here on my personal blog. (Content ideas welcome! Ha!)

So as a way to kickstart my latest goal, I created an editorial calendar printable to keep track of weekly + upcoming posts. If you would like to get onboard the frequent blogging train too, you can download it HERE. Happy planning!

workspace wednesday | leave the house

workspace wednesday | ann-marie loves paper

p h o t o   c r e d i t

If there’s one bit of wisdom I can impart on all you work-from-homers, it’s this: leave the house.

I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to figure out the beauty of a change of workspace scenery, but boy, does it ever make a difference. By going to a coffee shop for a few hours, I get so much work done, I get my caffeine fix, and did I mention that I leave the freaking house? Yes. It’s amazing. Coffee shops are amazing. Checking things off my list in an awesome atmosphere is – you guessed it – amazing. Better late than never, right?

Which coffee shop is your favorite? I need something other than the old standby! (;

workspace wednesday | time’s up

Ann-Marie Loves Paper

You guys, I think I may have found the secret to getting things done: a timer! Yesterday as my to-do list continued to grow and my productivity began to plummet, I decided to break down each task into 15 minute increments and focus, focus, focus. Before I knew it, I was checking items off my list and wondering why the heck I hadn’t tried this sooner! There’s something about a ticking timer that makes any task feel more like an exciting game than a monotonous job. And I like it.

What do you do to trick yourself into getting things done?

P.S. Today on the BG blog, you can see my super (not) glamorous styling + photography set-up!

workspace wednesday: time change madness.

The time change has made for some interesting ebbs and flows in my energy levels this past week, to say the least. On Monday I was FULL SPEED AHEAD and on Tuesday I was…not.

to-do lists | ann-marie loves paper

On Monday, I got myself out of bed and straight into a Zumba class with time to spare (a rare occurrence). I then came home and set out to clean my desk so I could get work done in a clean space, but in the process, ended up reorganizing my closet, my shipping supplies, my bookshelf, and my nightstand. I would have kept going (!!!), but I had work that needed to be completed in a time-sensitive manner so I focused on that instead. Of course, I then decided that I should take the dog on a nice long walk to wear him out a little bit. So we did. For an hour and a half. And after that, I jumped right back into work until 3am before I realized that I should probably get some sleep. It should also be noted that I had little appetite the whole entire day and I wasn’t the least bit tired. WHERE DID THIS ENERGY COME FROM?

On Tuesday, I woke up and immediately regretted that decision. My sky-high energy from the day before had OFFICIALLY left the building. So…I spent a good portion of the morning (ahem…and early afternoon) working on my wedding pinning in my pajamas. (That’s somewhat productive, right?) I also made sure to chug as many glasses of water as I possibly could and that definitely seemed to help. Luckily, it was the most beautiful day of all time, so I was eager to sit outside and bask in the glorious California sunshine while answering e-mails from my phone (where would I be without my iPhone?). From that point on, I had a better grip on my energy. I packed and shipped a bunch of orders. I did a little grocery shopping. I took Wally on another long walk. I accomplished only what I needed to accomplish and left it at that.

I am always analyzing, always rethinking, always trying to find new ways to be BETTER, you know? I want everyday to be like Monday, but clearly that is SO not going to happen. Some days are good, some days are great. I just have to roll with it.

How do you maintain your energy levels? I would love to hear your thoughts!

workspace wednesday: planner mode.

planners | ann-marie loves paper

I sort of abandoned my planner for a few months last year (September / October…who are you?) in favor of the Teux Deux app on my phone. And as much as I loved the convenience of having my agenda everywhere I went, I missed the way it felt to SEE a week at a glance and to physically WRITE out my schedule with different colored pens. There’s nothing quite like the tactile satisfaction that comes from crossing things off and getting it done! This is also the reason I could never be 100% graphic design…I need to use my hands!

That said, recommitting to writing in my planner everyday has been a huge source of joy for me (seriously!). I break down my tasks over the whole week. I write down which days I worked out. I make goals for each week, whether it’s to go to bed by a certain time or try to figure out how to use my camera remote. I keep track of deadlines and hours worked. I make sure to note which days were really awesome. I put check marks next to things I accomplished. I write lists on notepads and then paperclip them into my book. I keep track of my life and it feels so good.

Do you love planners? How do you stay organized?

workspace wednesday: same ol,’ same ol.’

workspace wednesday | ann-marie loves paper

T O D A Y // Making piles, moving piles. Working on a few projects for Amy. Trying to figure out my place on Vine (are you on it? do tell!). E-mailing + g-chatting. Packing stamp orders. Watching Girls. Thinking about when I should leave for the gym. Slowly chipping away at my 2013 Project Life pages (photos to come!). Drinking a spinach / carrot / greek yogurt / almond milk / blueberry / banana smoothie. Trolling the interwebs for party decor inspiration. Reading and re-reading The New-Fashioned Wedding nearly every single day (such a good book). Looking forward to visiting Oh Hello Friend’s new shop. Designing printable Valentine’s. Loving the sunshine. Procrastinating. Still rocking sweatpants at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Same ol,’ same ol.’ (You know how it goes.)

xoxo
