let’s get together (yeah yeah yeah).

Despite being in five different states, three different time zones and unpredictable levels of Internet cooperation (Jamie – we’re coming for you!), my friends and I were able to hang out on Wednesday night + it was the greatest thing ever.

Okay, so maybe not “hang out” in the same way we do when we take over Starbucks or stand in Jaymee’s parents’ kitchen until 2am or gather together for our annual holiday parties, but still, so good. Amazing actually. I mean, can you believe that with a few clicks, you can SEE + HEAR + TALK TO someone thousands of miles away? Or better yet, six different people all at the same time?! I can’t even…

Nothing better than good friends, good conversations + ridiculously amazing technology.

bridesmaid cards | ann-marie loves paper

Over the holiday season, I was lucky enough to have almost all of my friends in town for several weeks. This meant daily trips to Starbucks to “get work done” which translates to “rearrange the tables + chairs in the store to accomodate everyone and talk loudly for hours on end.” (The good people at the ‘Bucks totally love us.) Since it’s so rare to actually have my friends nearby for an extended period of time, I knew I had to seize the opportunity to pop the question to my bridesmaids in person. And let me tell you, I struggled to figure out what I wanted to do! The pressure was on, to say the least.

After many failed mock-ups (I was dead-serious about this task), I finally decided that simple was best.

Using my Cameo, I die-cut each of the cards and then adhered them to a sheet of gold cardstock along with a handwritten message on the back. From there, I wrapped each card in hot pink tissue paper and tucked them into kraft bags embellished with washi tape, glitter tape, and a Thicker in each girl’s first initial. And guess what? It totally worked! Despite the fact that four out of six girls currently live out of state, they all agreed to join me on this journey! I couldn’t be more thrilled.

when friends get married.

Like I mentioned in my birthday list, 2012 has been the year of destination weddings. And I am such a fan.

Two weeks ago, my good friend Jaymee had the most amazing wedding in Santa Barbara. And even though SB is only an hour north of where we live, John and I decided to turn the long weekend into a mini vacation. It definitely turned out to be one of the best ideas we’ve had in the many years we’ve been together. The first night we stayed near the harbor in Ventura and the next two nights were spent in picturesque Carpinteria. During the day, we traipsed all over Solvang, Santa Barbara, Montecito, and even Oxnard for a little Cafe Rio.

In case I haven’t mentioned it in the past fifteen minutes or so, I LOVE California. End of story.

blogs + coffee.

A few weekends ago, I met up with my good friend Janelle for coffee + blog talk. If there’s anything in this world that the two of use can discuss until pretty much the end of time (and then some), it’s bloglandia. Who we look up to, what kinds of posts we love, what styles we gravitate towards, and of course, how the H can we be those people? It really was the best and I can’t wait to do it again soon.

And speaking of blog loving, here are a few that have totally won me over recently:

- Small Fry. Am I a mom or do I plan on becoming a mom anytime soon? Good lord no. But I am in love with this blog run by a talented group of gals from Utah (where else?).

- The Fresh Exchange. The hand-lettered titles, the stunning photos, the Parisian lifestyle (!!!)…this blogger has the midas touch.

- Blog Brunch. A blog about blogging? YES. PLEASE.

- Obama’s Website. All politics aside, Obama’s team hit it out of the park when they hired SimpleScott to brand his campaign. This article profiling the head designer is especially fascinating.

What are your favorite new blogs? Do share!

bridal shower of the century.

When I say “bridal shower of the century,” I’m not exaggerating. I think Jaymee’s shower (thrown by an insanely talented team, including Miss Style Eater!) definitely qualifies for that title. When I arrived a few hours early to help set up, I was immediately blown away by all the details: the food, the flowers, the table settings, the colors…the kind of details that Pinterest dreams are made of.

Nothing less than the best for the beautiful bride-to-be!

oh joy! book signing.

Last night my friend Janelle and I attended Oh Joy’s book signing and Q+A event in LA and had such a great time. It’s always fun to go to these kinds of parties because they really bring the big-name bloggers out of the woodwork (like this one! and this one!). And let’s get real: there’s nothing we love more than a little people-watching of the blogger variety. Every detail about the event was impeccable…the location, the decor, the Smilebooth. But then again, I wouldn’t expect anything less from the queen of design.

invitations to die for.

Last weekend I was able to spend quality time with one of my best friends (who lives in Hawaii!) and help her assemble her amazing wedding invitations until the wee hours of the morning. Not only did Jaymee design every last detail herself, but she had the invitations letterpressed by PressHaus and the envelopes addressed by Molly Jacques! Needless to say, she brought out the big guns. Plus, she told me that I don’t have to send in my reply card, knowing full-well that it would pain me to relinquish such a gorgeous piece of paper! Ha! I love that girl.

If this is just a taste of what’s to come, then I can’t wait for the wedding! The grammin’ opportunities will be PRIME (;

jess + jeff

Feeling so lucky that I had the opportunity to photograph these two on Sunday. They made my job (if you can call it that) so easy, so fun, so fulfilling. And isn’t that how work should be?

Team Bunting, all the way!

grammin’ ain’t easy // why is it so hot outside edition

1. You guys, it’s hot outside. Like really hot. Yesterday I searched “why is it so (effing) hot in September” and Google just could not provide me with a solid answer. Disappointing, to say the least. Nonetheless, this month is just trucking along which can only mean one thing: the holidays are almost here! A few weeks back, I spent a little bit of time working on mock-ups for holiday cards and stamp designs for the upcoming season. All while it was 100+ degrees outside. Sounds about right.

2. On Friday I was lucky enough to meet up with my good friend Sarah + her husband Mike at Warner Brothers to take the VIP tour (led by her brother). It was the best. Really. We’re both pop culture fiends (we took the NBC tour together while in NYC last March), so it was super exciting to go behind the scenes. (Thrilling, actually.) There are a few things that I miss about Utah and Sarah is at the very top of that list.

3. While in San Diego last weekend, I spent a considerable amount of time digging through antique stores, looking for postcards of places that I’ve lived. I may or may not be planning out wedding decor in my head. Don’t tell anyone.

4. Last weekend, John and I stopped in Orange for a little Which ‘Wich (good lord, we’re obsessed) and right next door was a cute cupcake shop called Sugar Me Bakery. Quite honestly, it was the well-designed logo that caught my attention (design is everything, after all) and got me to spend a few dollars on super-rich cupcakes.

5. Anthropologie’s Fall decor. Need I say more? Sigh.

6. I’ve been to a different beach every weekend for the past couple of weeks and I plan on continuing this winning streak. Need to make up for all the time lost in landlocked Utah!

Instagram is life.
